Welcome from Rabbi Jackie Tabick
Welcome from Jennifer Jankel, Chair, NWSS

NWSS is a Progressive Jewish community, affiliated to the Movement for Reform Judaism. As such, we recognise Judaism as a living tradition. We draw our strength and direction from the Torah, from the rich Rabbinical interpretations of the Talmud and the continuing history of Judaism. We seek to implement the practice of Judaism in a way which is rooted in tradition and modern in practice.

We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Men and women participate equally, families sit together, and we use both Hebrew and English in our services.

We're all learning. There are classes for children on Sunday mornings and a Summer Week. There are many ways in which adults can continue their learning and share their learning, including Torah breakfasts and "Lunch & Learn" on Shabbat mornings. (Food often seems to feature in synagogue activities!)

There is a flourishing community life with clubs and events for all ages and interests.

The synagogue is in Weybridge; our members come from a wide area around this part of Surrey. Our community also includes overseas visitors, from the US, Israel, South Africa and elsewhere, who are temporarily living and working here.

If you would like to attend a service or have any questions about joining the community we would be delighted to welcome you and answer any questions you may have. Please do get in touch.

Note for North American visitors: The Reform Movement is formally affiliated to the American Union for Reform Judaism. NWSS includes families from both the American Reform and Conservative movements, and while rites and practices at NWSS may be more traditional than American Reform, members of both movements feel comfortable with our services and approach to Judaism.
