Young people are very important to the continuing strength of our community.
We encourage them to make social links with the young people of our own community
and the wider Reform community by providing a range of social activities.
There is a Sunday evening youth group for young people in school years 10 - 12
(ages 14 to 17).
Young people take part in activities of RSY-Netzer, the youth movement of the
Reform Movement. NWSS won the National Purim Spiel Off in 2007 and hosted this event
in March 2008, welcoming RSY members from all over the country to celebrate Shabbat with us, Weybridge-style.
Several of our young people are participating in a 2-year leadership programme run by
RSY-Netzer which will enable them to work with young people in the future.
We run activities in conjunction with Maidenhead and Wimbledon Reform Synagogues
to encourage our young people to meet other Jewish people in the neighbouring areas.
Many of our young people have attended summer events organised by RSY-Netzer
and AJ6. These include summer camps (Shemesh is an annual summer camp organised by
RSY-Netzer for children aged from 10 to 15), Israel tour (at 16) and Kayitz (at 17),
which is a tour of European cities which are important in Jewish history.
